The purpose of the Canaan Historical Society is to collect, preserve and exhibit whatever explains and illustrates the heritage of the Town of Canaan.

The Museum is located on the second floor of the Alice Ward Memorial Library at 27 Park Street in Canaan.  The Greek Revival building was constructed in 1846.  Meetings are held on the third Friday of every month.
